13 Aug Wall Street or Gold Street… which one are you trusting in? Part 8
Over the last number of weeks we have shared with you “8 Principles to Prosper in Recessionary Times”:
- Tithing (Prov. 3:9-10, Heb. 7:1-8)
- Budgeting (Prov. 21:5)
- Working (II Thes. 3:10)
- Thinking (Prov. 21:5)
- Producing (Matt. 25:14-30)
- Investing (Rom. 12:4-5)
- Saving (Prov. 21:20).
This week, let’s continue…
8. Improving (Prov. 13:11).
Here the Bible tells us, “Prosperity comes here a little and there a little…”. The Bible also tells us, “Despise not the day of small beginnings” (Zech. 4:10). In other words, never belittle the little! The mistake so many people make is devaluing the little.
I know of a minister who read John 6:12 one day, “So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, ‘Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost’” (NKJV). God truly spoke to this minister through this verse. As a result, this minister went to his staff and told his employees to watch small amounts of spending like turning off lights when the office is empty, using the unused side of discarded paper for memos, etc. etc. At the end of the year this ministry saved $56,000! Now in comparison to this ministry’s annual income this amount was just a “fragment”, however they took this “fragment” and sent it to a missionary and this was more than enough to take care of this missionary’s family for an entire year! You see, little scraps from your previous blessing can be your seed for your next big miracle!
Every time I get a little check for my birthday or Christmas, etc. I will never despise this little check. I will always tithe and possibly give some, but I will almost always put a little into some savings or investment. I understand something…prosperity doesn’t come over night it comes over time! Pay ups are up front, but pay offs are out back! Remember this…I have “Discovered” that my “Visa” to financial freedom was not in obtaining “American Obsess” but turning over my “Master Card” to Jesus!
