IHOP (International House of Prayer) Can I have your order please? Part 1

Can you imagine going to a restaurant and ordering your food and then running back to the kitchen to try and fix the meal yourself?!  That would seem ridiculous to all of us!  Unfortunately, that’s what we as Christians do all the time when it comes to prayer!  We place our “order” in prayer with God and then we try and do it ourselves!

The Bible tells us, “Ask, and it shall be given you.  Seek and ye shall find.  Knock and it shall be opened unto you.  For everyone that asks, receives and he that seeks, finds and to him that knocks it shall be opened.  Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread will he give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?  If you then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him” (Matt. 7:7-11)?

Notice in verse seven, “Ask and you shall receive…”.  It doesn’t say, “Ask and maybe you’ll receive if your name happens to come up in the ‘prayer lotto’”!  In everyday language, the Bible tells us through these powerful verses that the process of prayer works!

Have you ever watched a football game and seen the kicker kick a 50-yard field goal?  All of us have and therefore we know the process of kicking a 50-yard field goal works…we just don’t think we could do it!  We believe the process of prayer works for Billy Graham, Kenneth Copeland and my pastor…but not for me!  But verse eight dispels that prayer myth.  “For everyone that asks, receives…”.  In other words, the process of prayer works for everyone who will work it…correctly!

We are going to begin a series on prayer all revolving around a “restaurant” theme that I believe will revolutionize your prayer life and help you get the right “order” every time!

Next week we will continue our series on “IHOP…International House of Prayer.”
