28 Jan IHOP (International House of Prayer) Worship Sandwich Part 5
Over the last several weeks we began our series with “Six Wonders of Worship”:
- God is seeking worshippers (John 4:23).
- Worship requires respect (Ps. 112:1, Gen. 17-18, Rev. 1:10-17).
- Worship is not wimpy (Acts 13:22)!
- Worship establishes relationship (Ps. 18:1).
- Worship God by faith (Heb. 13:15, Joshua 6).
This week, let’s continue…
6. Worship puts you in a position to hear from God (Ps. 46:10).
You are in the midst of major turmoil in your life and every devil in the world seems to be screaming in your ear, “What are you gonna do?!” Louder and louder it rings in your soul, “What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do?!”
The Bible tells us, “Be still and know that I am God” (Ps. 46:10). Therefore tell the devil very calmly, “I’ll tell you what I’m going to do, devil…nothing! Nothing but worship God!” When we worship, it stills our soul and puts us in a better position to hear from God. There is always a way out and He knows it. If we’ll be still long enough…we will too!
So what do you say, let’s enjoy our worship sandwich! You never just put meat on the counter top…you must lay down the bread as a foundation. Here are the key ingredients to make a great prayer sandwich:
- If you don’t want to be in “bun”dage, lay down the bread of worship first (Matt. 4:4).
- Then add the “meat” of God’s Word (Heb. 5:13-14).
- If you want to get out of a financial “pickle”…use the promises of God in prayer (II Pet. 1:3-4).
- Don’t add onions because God hears our prayers not smells them (I Pet. 3:11-12).
- Make sure you “ketchup” on your Bible reading (Job 23:12).
- Add just a little mustard because we should have faith as a grain of mustard seed (Luke 17:6).
- Now, “lettuce” pray!
