10 Jun Why Should I? (Learning to see yourself as God sees you!) Gal. 3:11 Part 5
Last week we discussed your “inward portrait” and that it is important because:
1. How you see yourself determines what you see!
2. How you see yourself determines how you see others!
As you can tell, it is imperative we learn to see ourselves as God sees us! A couple of weeks ago we discussed “Four Standards to See from God’s Sight”!
Standard #1…See it!
Standard #2…Say it!
Standard #3…Show it!
If you see it from God’s Word and say it from God’s Word long enough, eventually you’ll show it! Your inward portrait will begin to reflect in your outward circumstances. The Bible tells us, “For if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass” (James 1:23). In the Greek language the word “glass” literally denotes a small handheld mirror. Have you ever gotten up in the morning and looked at a full-length mirror and saw so many things out of place you needed to fix, and thought to yourself, “Where do I start?”
That’s what I love about God. His Word is compared to a small handheld mirror that shows us one small area we need to fix at a time. He knew if He gave us the full length version we would be overwhelmed with all that we need to change and probably get discouraged and quit. So He shows us one spiritual “cowlick” we need to comb or one spiritual “blemish” we need to erase at a time. This mirror is a bit different as it reflects the face of Jesus through His Word. The more we see it and the more we say it, we begin to change more into His image and eventually we will show it!
Standard #4…Share it!
As we see it, say it, and show it, now we are ready to share it! You see, the reflection others begin to see is that of our Savior. They begin to see His fruit growing on our branches (see Gal. 5:17-24). Now we are able to lead sinners to our Savior and saints to a greater reflection of our Savior!
This is the process of God:
- See it!
- Say it!
- Share it!
- Show it!
Next week, we’ll continue our series!
