17 Jun Why Should I? (Learning to see yourself as God sees you!) Gal. 3:11 Part 6
Over the last few weeks we discussed your “inward portrait” and that it is important because:
1. How you see yourself determines what you see!
2. How you see yourself determines how you see others!
As you can tell, it is imperative we learn to see ourselves as God sees us! We also have discussed “Four Standards to See from God’s Sight”!
Standard #1…See it!
Standard #2…Say it!
Standard #3…Show it!
Standard #4…Share it!
Now that we know this process, let’s explore how God views you so you begin His process in your life. It’s my desire that you know who you are and what you have from the pages of the Word of God! I’ve entitled this section, “Why Should I?”
1. Why should I say “I can’t” when the Bible says “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13)? I truly believe “I can’t” is akin to “I don’t want to”. I believe it is impossible that it’s impossible! I have literally gone into my dictionary and marked out the word “impossible” because I truly believe there is no way that there is no way!
2. Why should I fear when God has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind (II Tim. 1:7)? Many of you have probably seen the acronym for fear:
False
Evidence
Appearing
Real
This is so accurate as God’s Word is truth (John 17:17). Facts can’t change truth but truth can always change facts!
Several years ago one of our precious staff, Keith and Twylla Foust, became pregnant. Twylla’s water broke at only 22 weeks into her pregnancy. The doctor gave their child only two chances to live…slim and none. In the history of the hospital in which they stayed, there had only been two other children who had survived when their mother’s water had broken so early. Obviously with that kind of news, fear began to try and descend on Keith and Twylla. They rejected fear and refused to be moved off of God’s Word. Victoria Foust (aptly named, I must add) is now a healthy and happy eight year old girl!
Remember this, all fear of the future is based on a negative of the past and that’s why we must keep the devil in the “now” of faith (see Heb. 11:1)! Remember this also, the devil can’t do anything to you apart from fear…God can’t do anything for you apart from faith!
Next week we will continue our series!
