29 Jul 90 % (Because life is 10% what happens to you and 90 % how you respond to it)
It’s easy to have a good attitude on vacation! It’s easy to have a good attitude when everybody in your life is doing what you want them to do (which happens once in about every 76 years)! It’s easy to have a good attitude when all your circumstances are favorable! It’s easy to have a good attitude when your college football team just won the national championship! It is entirely different when people and circumstances are against you and your favorite college football team just had its first losing season since 1988!
The mighty apostle Paul had some pretty lousy things happen to him. The Bible tells us, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed” (II Cor. 4:8-9). However, look at his response to this in verses 17 and 18, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen
are eternal.”
Paul knew a secret to having a great attitude in times of adversity. Look at what you are going to…not at what you are going through! Paul knew life is about 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it!
Let’s talk a little bit about one of my favorite subjects… attitude!
13 Aspects of Attitude:
1. Attitude is your “advance man”
I tell our church on a regular basis, people meet the ushers and greeters before they meet me, and they meet me before they meet Jesus. Let’s make sure those “meetings” prepare them well to meet our Lord. This leads me to our next point…
2. People meet your attitude before they meet you!
