05 Jan From Here (How to turn your Setback into a Comeback) part 6
Over the past few weeks we shared with you a key scripture for the series…a very simple, but powerful verse, “Rejoice evermore” (I Thes. 5:16). We discovered that the Greek word translated “evermore” means “from this time on”. In other words, God wants us to live a constructive life from here. We also began to discover “13 Facets to live a Constructive Life…from here”:
- Part from Pity (Phil. 2:14).
- Never let your tragedy become your identity (Mark 5:26).
This week let’s continue…
3. You can’t unscramble eggs (Eph. 5:16).
Let me share with you “Five Understandings why you Can’t Unscramble Eggs”:
1. We all have “woulda, shoulda, coulda’s”
Everybody has something or someone that they regret. Before I met Jesus I too had a very rough past. I was an alcoholic and checking ID’s at a bar. I also had a notoriously horrible temper. Not a good combination. When I was 18 I got into some kind of a hassle with my dad. It was late one night and the argument began to escalate. My sweet mother was there and began to scream for us to stop. To make a long story short, I ended up pushing my own father to the ground. Of course, after tempers cooled I apologized and approximately two years later gave my life to Jesus, but that has always been one of my biggest regrets. However, decades ago, I learned we all have woulda, shoulda, coulda’s but we must live our lives from here!
2. If “if’s” and “buts” were candy and nuts…we’d all have a merry Christmas!
We all have skeletons in the closet, but if you have confessed and forsaken your sins and someone opens up your closet…all they’ll find is the blood of Jesus (see Proverbs 28:13)!
3. One thing I discovered about “yesterday” is that it ended last night.
Your Bible tells us in Lamentations 3:21-23, “…His mercies are new every morning.” If you are having a really lousy day, just go to bed and wake up to His new mercies!
Next week we will continue in our series…
