Book it! (Because a Bible that is falling apart indicates a life that isn’t!) Part 9

This week let’s have a quick review then jump into new teaching…

My goal for you in this series is three-fold:

  1. To love the Word
  2. To learn the Word
  3. To live the Word

We have shared with you two “Bible beholdings”:

  1. If you want to know God you must know the Bible.
  2. Prayer is talking to God.  The Bible is God talking to us.

We then began to share with you “Four Awesome Assignments to Assist you with the Word”:

  1. Activate the Word

Three ways to activate God’s Word:

1.) Faith activates the Word (Heb. 4:2)

2.) Revelation activates faith (Eph. 1:18)

3.) Meditation activates revelation (Joshua 1:8).

       2. Accept the Word (Matt. 7:24-27).

Last week we jumped into…

       3. Assimilate the Word (II Tim. 3:16-17).

I shared that as someone who has been in ministry for over 37 years, I have observed many Christians living what I call “compartmental Christianity”.  In other words, we allow God into certain areas of our life but carefully exclude Him from others.  You see athletes, actors and actresses give unashamed praise to God at award shows or on an athletic field, then you see them beating their wife or singing in a very ungodly video.  They have effectively compartmentalized God.

In other words, whatever I hold back from God I ultimately lose.  Whatever I give to God I ultimately gain!

Let’s continue this thought by saying it this way…

Assimilate God’s Word into every area of your life and let His Word govern your decision making process in every area of your life!  Let His Word govern your money, your attitude, your relationships, your marriage, your child training, your health and your integrity!

The Bible tells us in II Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”  Notice the phrase “All scripture” (not some scripture but all scripture) is inspired by God.  That phrase “inspired by God” is the Greek compound word “theospnustas”.  “Theos” means God and “pnustas” denotes “breath”.  In other words, all Scripture is God-breathed.  All Scripture contains the very breath of God in it.

If I blew up a balloon with my hot air (I have plenty of that) that balloon would literally contain my DNA.  Well, that’s exactly what you’ll find in all of God’s Word…His DNA.  Your Bible is not just a normal book…it is alive (Heb. 4:12) and contains the very DNA of God.  That’s why you can trust it!  That’s why you can assimilate it into every area of your life!  When you do, eventually that area will end up blessed.  If you don’t, that area will end up a mess!

Remember this:  The income of God’s Word will produce the outcome of a changed life!
