14 May Hopes & Habits (Because you can’t have uphill hopes and downhill habits) Part 30
Over the last few weeks we have shared with you “Four Biblical Habits” that will radically change your life:
- Focus on firsts (Matt. 6:33).
- Foster new thoughts (Rom. 12:2).
- Find your purpose (Eph. 2:10)
- Further your relationship (Prov. 12:26 NKJ)
Last week we shared tips on Marriage. This month we continue our series by sharing “Four Righteous Relationship Choices”:
- Nurture your most important relationships (Prov. 14:19).
Relationships are much like our stomachs: big in…big out! If you are married, other than the relationship you have with Jesus, this is your most important relationship. As someone who has been in ministry for 35 years, I hear statements like this fairly frequently: “My marriage isn’t what it used to be.” People make this statement like it is the fault of the “marriage”. Guess what? If your marriage isn’t what it used to be, it’s not the “marriage’s” fault…it’s the fault of the spouse who discontinued investing in the marriage.
At times I will hear this one: “The fire has gone out of our marriage.” When the winter arrives and you build a fire, if the fire begins to diminish, it’s not the fault of the fire place! Go get some wood! Go get a match! Come on baby, light my fire!
Remember this: If the grass is greener on the other side, they have a higher water bill!
