08 Oct I Recognize You! (Learning to recognize people, places and points that are pivotal in your life): PART 1
Many years ago, a pastor that I know had another pastor from Missouri come and teach in his church. A young lady traveled with this pastor and his wife so she could oversee this pastor’s book and tape table (yes millennials, there was such a thing called tapes)! The pastor that I know simply befriended the young “nobody” working behind the book table. He was just being kind and treated her with love and respect.
That little woman that nobody knew later went on to become Joyce Meyer, the famous television teacher! When Joyce Meyer decided to have an annual Pastors Conference many years later, even though she could’ve chosen just about anyone…guess which pastor she selected? You are probably already ahead of me…she selected the one person who treated her with love and respect when she was a “nobody”.
The Bible reveals to us in a little parable with a powerful principle contained within from Matthew 13:44, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.” As you can see, the treasure is hidden in a field. Therefore God frequently hides treasure in dirt. If you want the treasure, you must get past the dirt! We must all learn to recognize the treasure in the dirt!
Please allow me to share with you “Three Realms of Recognition”:
- People (Matt. 13:44) – People are much more important than you may know!
5 Points Pertaining to the Importance of People:
- Association gives you motivation for your destination.
- Right voices…right choices. Who you allow to speak into your life will determine the choices you make in life.
- Right connections…right directions. When God wants to bless your life He will send someone into your life. When the devil wants to curse your life, he will send someone into your life.
- It’s impossible to live the right life when you have the wrong friends! The Bible tells us, “He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed” (Prov. 13:20).
- If you want to make wiser decisions, associate with wiser people.
Over the next several weeks we will continue this series…
