26 Nov I Recognize You! (Learning to recognize people, places and points that are pivotal in your life): PART 7
God frequently hides treasure in dirt. The Bible tells us, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hides, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field” (Matt. 13:44).
We the past few weeks we have been sharing principles from this teaching. Before we move forward let’s review. We began with…
“Three Realms of Recognition”:
- People (Matt. 13:44)
5 Points Pertaining to the Importance of People:
- Association gives you motivation for your destination.
- Right voices…right choices.
- Right connections…right directions.
- It’s impossible to live the right life when you have the wrong friends!
- If you want to make wiser decisions, associate with wiser people.
Then we gave you “11 Treasure Tips”:
- God frequently hides treasure behind dirt.
- God hides greatness in weakness.
- God hides great behind common.
- To access the treasure you must honor the dirt.
- God digs through the dirt to find the treasure. People dig through the treasure to find the dirt!
- To get what God intends you must receive who God sends.
- When you ask God for something…He will send it through somebody.
- If you reject the somebody, you won’t receive the something.
- Perception determines reception.
- How you perceive someone is how you’ll receive someone.
- Honor is the key to access.
From this we shared “5 Familiarity Facets”:
- When His grace becomes common place.
2. With acclimation comes a lack of appreciation.
3. When miracles become monuments.
4. When something that used to turn you on…you now turn on.
5. When the devil can’t steal it from you…he’ll just cause you to take the precious for granted.
This week let’s continue with our second of “Three Realms of Recognition”:
2. Places (I Kings 17:8-9)
Here the Bible tells us, “And the word of the Lord came unto him saying, Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” Not only is it important that you recognize pivotal people in your life, but that you recognize pivotal places in your life!
Please allow me to share with you “4 Powerful Points Pertaining to Places”:
1.) Where you are is just as important as what you are.
Have you ever seen a fish swim in the water? I love fishing, particularly shark fishing. I have seen many sharks swimming in the ocean. What a magnificent creature! When fish are in their element (the water) they are a beautiful creature. However, once they are out of the water they huff and puff, and wiggle around. They look ridiculous! Why? They are not in the place where they belong.
2.) Where you are can determine your provision (I King 17:1-9)
If your brook is always drying up, ask yourself “Am I in the place where God has assigned me?” God will sustain you “there”.
3.) Where you are can determine your reception (Luke 9:51-53)
Here the Bible tells us, “And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem. And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.”
When Anne and I were looking for a place to plant our church, we came to Nashville and looked at all the cool and popular places. However, there we had no peace. It’s only when we went to a little one horse town…Mount Juliet…that we had peace. 16 years later, Mount Juliet has grown significantly and the church now has over 2,300 active Joy team members! Where you are can truly determine your reception.
It is so vital to recognize pivotal people and places in your life! Next month we will continue!
