I Recognize You! (Learning to recognize people, places and points that are pivotal in your life): PART 9

We don’t always realize it, but we choose our choices and therefore inadvertently choose our consequences.  Consequences (good or bad) always accompany choices. The good news is if you don’t like your present circumstances, you are simply one Biblical choice away from improving your life (see Deuteronomy 30:19).  You are not a loser…you are a chooser!

Over the last couple of months we have been sharing with you how important it is to recognize people, places and points that are pivotal in our lives.  Let’s review…

“Three Realms of Recognition”:

  1. People (Matt. 13:44)

5 Points Pertaining to the Importance of People:

  1. Association gives you motivation for your destination.
  2. Right voices…right choices.
  3. Right connections…right directions.
  4. It’s impossible to live the right life when you have the wrong friends!
  5. If you want to make wiser decisions, associate with wiser people.

Then we gave you “11 Treasure Tips”:

  1. God frequently hides treasure behind dirt.
  2. God hides greatness in weakness.
  3. God hides great behind common.
  4. To access the treasure you must honor the dirt.
  5. God digs through the dirt to find the treasure.  People dig through the treasure to find the dirt!
  6. To get what God intends you must receive who God sends.
  7. When you ask God for something…He will send it through somebody.
  8. If you reject the somebody, you won’t receive the something.
  9. Perception determines reception.
  10. How you perceive someone is how you’ll receive someone.
  11. Honor is the key to access.

“5 Familiarity Facets”:

  1. When His grace becomes common place.
  2. With acclimation comes a lack of appreciation.
  3. When miracles become monuments.
  4. When something that used to turn you on…you now turn on.
  5. When the devil can’t steal it from you…he’ll just cause you to take the precious for granted.
  6. Places (I Kings 17:8-9)

2. Places (I Kings 17:8-9)

“4 Powerful Points Pertaining to Places”:

  1. Where you are is just as important as what you are.
  2. Where you are can determine your provision. (I King 17:1-9)
  3. Where you are can determine your reception. (Luke 9:51-53)
  4. God wants you planted not potted. (Ps. 92:12-14)

This week let’s continue with…

3. Points (Mark 10:46-52)

Here the Bible says, “And they came to Jericho; and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus , the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.  And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.  And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?  The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.”

Blind Bartimaeus was sitting on the road side with his father Timaeus.  History tells us Timaeus was blind as well. In this powerful passage of Scripture, you see two people…two generations represented.  Bartimaeus recognized that Jesus is my pivotal Person, the road to Jericho is my pivotal place and right now is my pivotal point!  Timaeus did not.  One walked away with his life dramatically changed, the other continued to beg on the side of the road.  What’s the difference? Recognition.

The Bible tells us in Luke 19:41-44, “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it.  Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace!  But now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side.  And shall lay thee even with the ground, and they children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.”  Because these people were playing  instead of praying, they did not recognize the pivotal Person (Jesus) or pivotal point (today) in their lives.
Can you see how important it is to recognize pivotal people and places in your life?!
