26 Jan WORD WAR III (NEVER LIVE IN A GRAY WORLD WHEN YOU HAVE A BLACK AND WHITE BIBLE!) PART 5
Deception will be a huge weapon of the enemy to get some to slowly walk away from the Word of God!
Here is the good news…YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A ‘SOME’!
As you can see, the war is over the Word of the Living God!
Let’s review…
Over the past few weeks we began to share with you “Seven WORD War Wonders”:
- The war is over the Word (Gen. 3:1)
- The Word is the most powerful force in the universe (Heb. 1:3)
- God’s blessing resides within the Word (Gen. 1:28)
- God’s Word is written for a reason (I John 5:13)
Last week we began to share 7 “It is Written” Writings:
- It is written for your salvation (I John 5:13)
Here the Bible tells us, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may now that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” Notice our confidence in our salvation is based on what is written. Remember: Your salvation is not based on your behavior. Your salvation is based on your Savior. Remember this also: Your salvation is not based on your feelings. Your salvation is based on your Father.
- It is written for your foundation (I Peter 5:12)
Here the Bible tells us, “By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.” The Word of God is our foundation in these very unstable times. The Scripture tells us “Wisdom and knowledge are the stability of our times” (Isaiah 33:6). I have never been through an earthquake but I have been told that if you are up in a plane flying directly over an earthquake…you won’t feel the slightest tremor. Remember this: Anything attached to the earth shakes. Anything attached to Heaven remains stable.
This week we continue with…
- It is written for your joy (I John 1:4)
Here the Scripture tells us, “And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.” When you are born again the joy of the Lord was deposited into your spirit (see Galatians 5:22-23). However when we are out of fellowship with God (see I John 1:3 and Psalms 51:12) the joy that is in our spirit does not flow into our soul. It’s as if our sin puts a temporary lid over our permanent joy. The good news is if we will simply confess our sin (see I John 1:9), that lid will be removed and once again our joy floods out into our soul where it is made full once again! Remember this: When you sin, don’t run from God…run to God! Your joy depends on it!
- It is written for your freedom (I John 2:1)
Here the Word of God tells us, “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” The Bible also tells us in John 8:31-32, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Notice the word “continue.” This is the Greek word “meno” which means “to abide in or remain as a habit.” Notice if we will continue in the Word (or remain with it as a habit) we will know the truth and that truth would make us free!
I have noticed over the years that people quote that verse like this, “And the truth will set you free.” Now I am not trying to be too grammatically picky but there is a big difference between “set” and “make.” If I set you free, this would imply that you are in jail and I have to come along and open up your prison doors with my keys. Therefore you are dependent on me for your freedom. If you are MADE free, that implies you have the keys and you can unlock your prison doors all by yourself!
Jesus said, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth will be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matt. 16:19).
Remember this: It is not the truth I know that will make you free…it’s the truth YOU know that will make you free!
Next month we will continue our series!
