Well or Well Done (Because people vastly underestimate what God can do through a lifetime of faithfulness) PART 1

Have you ever had people who you thought you could count on simply abandon you in the
midst of a difficult time?
I remember when I was just a teenager long before I gave my life to Jesus. We had a rival high
school called Copley High. I would go to the football games not to watch football, but to look
for fights. I remember one such game when my five so called buddies and I were roaming
around the stadium grounds looking for Copley boys to fight. We came upon another group of
six guys of our rivals. Since I was the leader of our group, I got in a shouting match with the
leader of the other group.
As the language and intensity ratcheted up, I noticed that my five so called ‘friends’ had
abandoned me! I was left alone to fight six guys! Fortunately for me, the Copley boys had
enough honor to allow me and the other leader to fight…just the two of us. As I began to
prevail over the other young man I noticed all my “friends” came back! Clearly these were not
friends that were reliable or that could be counted on in tough times!
God wants us to be the antithesis of this…reliable children that He can count on particularly in
tough times! Let’s look at our key scripture from Matthew 25:21: “His lord said unto him, Well
done, thou good and faithful servant; thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee
ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
This is a very familiar scripture and is in context of being faithful and reliable with gifts that God
has given us to use for His glory here on the earth! It should be the heart cry of every believer
to hear “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”…not just, “Well?”

Next week I will continue in this series…
