Code Red (Learning to look at what you’re going TO instead of what you’re going through) PART 7

The Bible speaks of the “evil day” (see Ephesians 6:13). The “evil day” is the day you hear bad
news. Your doctor gives you the test results. Your boss tells you they are laying you off! The
school counselor tells you they found drugs in your teen’s locker! There are thousands of
scenarios life can throw at you! It is a “code red”!

However, you can overcome! You can learn to look at what you’re going to instead of what you
are going through. Let’s go back to see our key verses in this series:

Psalms 112:7-8: “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: His heart is fixed, trusting in the
Lord. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire on his enemies.”

Now let’s review from last month as we discussed…

“7 Outstanding Outlines to Overcoming Crisis”:

1. How you respond in a crisis is key (Mark 5:36)

“3 Key Crisis Concepts”:
1) Crisis doesn’t create your character….it reveals it.
2) Whatever is in you in abundance will come out in crisis (Matt. 12:33-35)
3) Your initial response will do your miracle or your mess (Mk 5:36)

2. What God did for another He can do for you (Acts 10:4)

“Two Testimony Truths”:
1) If the devil can convince you your problem is special…it will be especially hard to
overcome!
2) Testimonies bring inspiration. The Word of God brings faith.

3. Rehearsing past victories is proof you are unstoppable (I Sam. 17:34-37).

“3 Unstoppable Understandings”:
1) Consider your history of winning as a prediction of tomorrow’s victory!
2) Yesterday’s lion is a prediction of today’s Goliath! The bigger they are the harder
they fall!
3) Thanksgiving is the only thing that looks backward and forward at the same
time…backward to past victories and forward to future triumph!

4. Your feelings are created by your focus (Rom. 8:6)

“12 Focus Facets”:
1. What gets your attention gets you!
2. Just because it gets your attention doesn’t mean it deserves your attention.

This month let’s continue…
3. All failure is based on broken focus.
In the Word of God, one of the terms for the devil is “Beelzebub.” Beelzebub means
“lord of the flies.” Not too long ago I was fishing for shark on a beach and there was
a hatch of biting flies. There were hundreds of thousands of them. The bites did not
hurt and they could not kill you, but they were some of the most distracting insects
you could ever encounter! That is a very good summation of all the forces of
darkness… “distracting”! As a matter of fact, in the Amplified version one of the
things the devil uses to steal the Word from you is called the “distractions of the
age” (see Mark 4:1-20 Amp).

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of
our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising
the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

The Greek word translated “looking” is “apharao.” The word means to take your
focus off of all other things and fix your spiritual eyes on Jesus. The moment
Peter took his eyes off Jesus and on to the storm is the moment he began to
sink! All failure is based on broken focus!
