Code Red (Learning to look at what you’re going TO instead of what you’re going through) PART 9

We have all had terrible days! We have all heard bad news! This is what the Bible refers to as
the “evil day.” In everyday language…Code Red! I don’t care what you are going through…in
the midst of tests, trials and tribulation…you can overcome!

Let’s revisit our key verse from this series:
Psalms 112:7-8: “He shall not be afraid of evil tiding: His heart is fixed, trusting in the
Lord. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire on his enemies.”

Now let’s review from last month as we discussed “7 Outstanding Outlines to Overcoming
Crisis”:
1. How you respond in a crisis is key (Mark 5:36)
“3 Key Crisis Concepts”:
1) Crisis doesn’t create your character….it reveals it.
2) Whatever is in you in abundance will come out in crisis (Matt. 12:33-35)
3) Your initial response will do your miracle or your mess. (Mark 5:36)

2. What God did for another He can do for you (Acts 10:4)
“Two Testimony Truths”:
1) If the devil can convince you your problem is special…it will be especially hard to
overcome!
2) Testimonies bring inspiration. The Word of God brings faith.

3. Rehearsing past victories is proof you are unstoppable. (I Sam. 17:34-37)

“3 Unstoppable Understandings”:
1) Consider your history of winning as a prediction of tomorrow’s victory!
2) Yesterday’s lion is a prediction of today’s Goliath! The bigger they are the harder
they fall!
3) Thanksgiving is the only thing that looks backward and forward at the same
time…backward to past victories and forward to future triumph!

4. Your feelings are created by your focus (Rom. 8:6)
“12 Focus Facets”:

1) What gets your attention gets you!
2) Just because it gets your attention doesn’t mean it deserves your attention.
3) All failure is based on broken focus.
4) God gave you your mind to re-size your experience.
5) You can’t always decide what happens to you…but you can decide what is big or
small.
6) You can either magnify God and minimize your problems, or you can magnify the
problem and minimize God.
7) Your mind decides what lives or dies in the garden of your soul.
8) You are the garden for the flowers or the weeds.
9) What you continually mind you will eventually find. (Rom. 8:5-6)

This month let’s continue….
10) Feelings only stay when you feed them.
A number of years ago a young man approached me. He shared how he and his
girlfriend had broken up and he could not seem to overcome the feelings he had
from her. He was miserable. He had asked God to take away all those feelings he
had for his ex-girlfriend as the relationship was very destructive. No matter how
much he prayed, he told me the feelings would not go away!
So I asked him a few questions: “Do you still have her love letters to you?” “Why
yes,” he said “and I read them often.” “Do you still have pictures of her?” “Yes, they
are still plastered all around my apartment.” He could pray until he was blue in the
face but those feelings were not going to go away. Why…because he was feeding
them!
What gets your attention…gets you!
