26 Dec Code Red (Learning to look at what you’re going TO instead of what you’re going through) PART 11
Over the past few weeks we have shared “7 Outstanding Outlines to Overcoming
Crisis” based on the scripture: Psalms 112:7-8: “He shall not be afraid of evil tiding: His heart is fixed, trusting in the
Lord. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire on his enemies.”
1. How you respond in a crisis is key (Mark 5:36)
2. What God did for another He can do for you (Acts 10:4)
3. Rehearsing past victories is proof you are unstoppable. (I Sam. 17:34-37)
4. Your feelings are created by your focus (Rom. 8:6)
We then began to share…
“12 Focus Facets”:
1) What gets your attention gets you!
2) Just because it gets your attention doesn’t mean it deserves your attention.
3) All failure is based on broken focus.
4) God gave you your mind to re-size your experience.
5) You can’t always decide what happens to you…but you can decide what is big or
small.
6) You can either magnify God and minimize your problems, or you can magnify the
problem and minimize God.
7) Your mind decides what lives or dies in the garden of your soul.
8) You are the garden for the flowers or the weeds.
9) What you continually mind you will eventually find. (Rom. 8:5-6)
10) Feelings only stay when you feed them.
11) You can change your feelings by changing your focus.
12) You can change your focus by speaking the Word. (II Cor. 10:5)
Here the Bible tells us, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts
itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ.” You cast down imaginations by speaking the Word!
Never try to out-think the devil…out speak him! Speaking the Word…changes your focus
from the problem to the answer!
Last week we continued with “7 Outstanding Outlines to Overcoming
Crisis”:
5. In crisis…get and give perspective (II Kings 6:16)
In crisis, people either “freak out” or “faith out.” As leaders, one of the first things we
must do is GET perspective. You can’t give what you don’t have.
Then we began sharing with you “5 Principles Pertaining to Perspective”:
1. Praise brings perspective (Ps. 61:2). Here the Bible tells us, “From the end of the
earth will I cry unto you, when my heart is overwhelmed: Lead me to the rock that is
higher than I.” Praise “lifts” your spiritual vantage point. Rather than looking up at
your problem you are now looking down on it. It was a baseball bat the devil was
using to intimidate you. Now it’s just a toothpick because of the higher perspective
of praise!
This week we continue with…
2. Time brings perspective (Ps. 37:25). Here the Word of God tells us, “I have been
young, and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed
begging bread.” Here David tells us, I was once young and now I am old, and I have
never SEEN…notice David over time now has experience on his side. I totally
understand this as I am in my 40 th year of ministry. I have seen just about everything
you can imagine. I know this in times of crisis. In Heaven there is no panic…only
plans!
3. When emotions are high, wisdom is low! Remember this: It is very difficult to see
clearly through the distortion of emotion! Never make life changing decisions in a
valley. You change directions on a peak. You change your attitude in a valley!
4. Look for the gold hidden in the ashes of defeat.
5. You are not winning or losing, you’re winning or you’re learning. When my son
was young we would often play basketball together. I would win easily but I would
always tell him, “Son you are not winning or losing. You’re winning or you’re
learning! You may have lost but what can you learn from this…how can you get
better?” Now that he is 21 and I am 61…I am the one who is doing all the learning!
