02 Feb From Here (How to turn your Setback into a Comeback) part 10
Over the past couple of months we have been sharing with you our key scripture from I Thessalonians 5:15, “Rejoice evermore.” It’s a short but powerful verse. We discovered that the Greek word for “evermore” meant ‘from this time on’ and in everyday language, “from here”. Then we began to share with you “13 Facets to live a Constructive Life”:
- Part from Pity (Phil. 2:14).
- Never let your tragedy become your identity (Mark 5:26).
- You can’t unscramble eggs (Eph. 5:16).
- What we know is always more important than how we feel (Eph. 6:13-14).
This month let’s continue with…
5. Never let go of what you do know because of what you don’t know (Matt. 11:5-6).
Here the Bible tells us, “The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.”
Let me give you a little background pertaining to those verses. You have John the Baptist who was Jesus’ cousin and ministry partner, the man who baptized Jesus. Now he finds himself in jail and sends his disciples to Jesus to ask Him if He is the One or do we look for another? Remember, John had seen with his own two eyes the Spirit descending on Jesus like a dove…he knew Jesus was the Messiah. Yet now he finds himself in jail, not on Christian television…in jail! This is not where he expected to be.
Jesus then clearly points John’s disciples back to the Word as the aforementioned Scriptures are simply a quote from Isaiah 35:5-6. In other words, in a time when John did not understand, Jesus pointed him to what he did know. In life there will always be things that we do not initially understand. Therefore in order to live your life from here you must not let go of all you do know, because of what you don’t know.
