14 Feb It is What It Is (Discovering the true character of God…because He is not a car-wrecking, cancer causing Creator, but a loving, life giving Lord!) part 26

When Anne and I started World Changers Bible Institute back in 1993, we began our adventure in Charlotte, North Carolina.  When we first began, we had no salary and therefore had to start very meager beginnings!  We moved into a very inexpensive apartment complex on the third floor.  In the apartment unit directly underneath us there were all kinds of “very interesting activities” going on!  There were times at three in the morning that our “neighbors” would crank up their stereo just about as loud as it would go.  It was as if their “woofers” were in our bedroom.  During the day, they would leave their apartment door unlocked as people would come and go to buy and sell drugs.  All the while, I was trying to write curriculum to begin WCBI!

One can clearly see that while there was a clear cut owner of this apartment complex, that owner was not in charge of everything that occurred in any single unit.  Also because of clear landlord/tenant laws, he could not just barge in and control all that went on in certain apartment units!

In everyday terms, I would describe it this way.   God owns the “apartment complex”.  He then leased it to Adam (see Genesis 1:26-28).  When Adam sinned he then sub-leased it to the devil.  God still owns the apartment complex but the devil has legal claim to some apartment units.  Now God, who respects the law, will not just barge into each unit without being invited.
