The Bible tells us in I Timothy 4:1, “Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”  In this powerful verse the Greek word translated “expressly” means “clearly or vividly.”  The Greek word translated “last” is “hystemos” which means “last of the last.”  The Greek word for “depart” is “aphistemi” which means “to step away from, to resist, to desert or withdraw.  The Greek word for “seducing” is “planos” which means to “slowly wander away.” If you’ll give me a little liberty, this verse could...

What a unique time we live in!  In my almost 59 years of living and in 36 years of ministry, I have never seen anything like it!  I am watching people, pastors, churches and entire denominations walking away from the Word of the living God!  This should not, however, surprise us. One of my favorite Bible verses is found in James 4:7, “Submit yourself to God.  Resist the devil and he shall flee from you.”  The Greek word translated “submit” is “hupostasso.”  It is a compound Greek word:  “hupo” means “under” and “tasso” which means “to arrange.”  The Greek word translated “resist” is the word “antihistemi.”  The Greek word denotes a “covenant to stand against.”  Finally, the Greek word translated “flee” is the word “pheugo” which means to “run away, escape or vanish.”   Put all of these Greek words together and this powerful verse could be translated as this:  “Arrange yourself under...

Here at Joy Church we have three live services every week.  One on Wednesday, the second on Saturday and the third on Sunday.  At each of these services we have hired a policeman.  He helps direct traffic and obviously brings an element of protection to every service.  We have thousands of people who come to Joy Church and they all have vehicles bigger and stronger than our policeman.  However, when he holds up his hand it’s amazing how all of these big vehicles come to a screeching stop.  Why?  He has authority!  So do you!  Let’s talk about it.
