Over the past few weeks we have been learning from - Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” We shared with you three very important takeaways from this verse: Notice the word “cometh”.  The Greek tense for the word “cometh” is in the continual tense, meaning it is discussing those who continually come to God.  It could read “those that cometh and cometh and cometh to God”.  It describes a continual, communicative relationship. ...

A few months ago, Texas had horrible flooding.  Many died in this tragic event.  I watched an emotionally distraught young woman interviewed by a local Texas television affiliate.  The young woman had been working and she left her five children with her mother that fateful day.  The flood swept through her neighborhood carrying away her house, her mother and all five of her children.  The flood destroyed her home and killed her mother and precious kids.  My heart ached for her!  As she was being interviewed she cried out, “Lord Jesus, what are you doing to me and why did...

Our new series this month is not derived from the popular cultural statement, but rather from Hebrews 11:6 which says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” There are three very important takeaways to review from this powerful verse: Notice the word “cometh”.  The Greek tense for the word “cometh” is in the continual tense, meaning it is discussing those who continually come to God.  It could read “those that cometh and cometh and cometh to...

“It is what it is.”  This statement is a very over-used phrase that is presently permeating our culture.  Similar to the phrase, “At the end of the day…”.  I discovered a long time ago that “at the end of the day”…it’s night! Our new series this month is not derived from the popular cultural statement, but rather from Hebrews 11:6 which says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” To review...

Understanding God’s true nature and character is absolutely vital if we are to continually “cometh” to Him!  Remember this:  You always return to a place of pleasure.  Let me illustrate. As of this writing, my wife Anne and I are about to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary!  Approximately 26 years ago we honeymooned in Hilton Head, South Carolina.  We absolutely love it there!  It is to this day our get-away spot and we return there four times a year!  It is a place of pleasure for us and we obviously return often! Conversely, I remember many years ago Anne and I were...

Over the last number of months, we have shared with you our key verse for this series, I Thessalonians 5:16, “Rejoice evermore.”  In this short but powerful verse, we discussed the Greek word translated “evermore” literally means “from this point on”.  In everyday language it means “from here”.   Then we began to share “13 Facets to Live a Constructive Life”: Part from Pity (Phil. 2:14). Four Powerful Principles on Pity: Only two people show up at your pity party…you and the devil.   Send an RSVP to your own pity party!  Just decide not to show up! There are three emotions...

Today we continue with our key verse for this series, I Thessalonians 5:16, “Rejoice evermore.”  In this short but powerful verse, we discussed the Greek word translated “evermore” literally means “from this point on”.  In everyday language it means “from here”.   Over the past few months we have been sharing “13 Facets to Live a Constructive Life”: Part from Pity (Phil. 2:14). Never let your tragedy become your identity (Mark 5:26). You can’t unscramble eggs (Eph. 5:16). What we know is always more important than how we feel (Eph. 6:13-14). Never let go of what you do know because of what...

Recently, one of my audio/visual workers approached me and shared his heart.  He disclosed that he had a neighbor who was walking through a very difficult time.  This neighbor approached him for some encouragement.  She shared with him that she had cancer and she was walking through some great physical challenges.  My audio visual guy spent about 45 minutes encouraging her.  A day or two later, the cancer-stricken woman went out of town.  Shortly thereafter, unfortunately she died.   This man was quite shaken.  You see, he has a wonderful heart and truly felt like he could have done so much...
