The first of each month we share First Tuesday's Teaching Tips. These are teaching nuggets from over thirty years in ministry. What a great way to start the school year, with an encouraging word from my new book: "Enduring Life Or Enjoying Life, How to never be down, discouraged, or depressed another day in your life!" If we are to truly enjoy our Christian journey, we have to learn to lighten up and laugh a little - If you are really going to enjoy your life, it is absolutely vital to have a sense of humor!  - When I was a young man, I would...

I believe when a Bible is falling apart it indicates a life that isn’t! In this new series I have a three-pronged goal.  I want you to: Love the Word! Learn the Word! Live the Word! Let’s begin with some very key verses found in John 1:1-2, 14:  Ïn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace...

I’ve had a little brown Bible since my mother gave it to me in 1984.  If you could see it…you would laugh!  It is a mess!  I have so many Scriptures underlined, I have a few pages that are taped together.  I even have a few pages that are completely torn out from my Bible and are simply hanging on by faith! My Bible is falling apart but my life isn’t!  My marriage is great!  My relationship with my son is great!  My relationship with my staff is great!  My relationship with my church is great!  My physical health is great!...

We have many reasons to celebrate this month - like wrapping up this amazing series! For many months we have shared with you our key verse for this series found in Hebrews 11:6, “For without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” From there we shared three very important takeaways: Notice the word “cometh”.  The Greek tense for the word “cometh” is in the continual tense, meaning it is discussing those who continually come to God.  It could read...

What a great way to celebrate The 4th of July, with an encouraging word from my new book: "Enduring Life Or Enjoying Life, How to never be down, discouraged, or depressed another day in your life!" Before we jump in let's review 10 of our 11 Characteristics concerning the Character of God: You can’t create God in your own image (Rom. 1:25).   Heaven yes…Hell no! Sin ruins the view Will the real God please stand up?  (John 10:10) Jesus the transition (Heb. 1:3) It is finished (John 19:30, Rom. 6:14) Stupid is as stupid does (James 1:13-17) Don’t assign the blame…get into the game (John 9:1-4). We have a wonderful doctor and his wife who have come to Joy Church for about ten years.  They make a big difference for Jesus here at Joy.  He is the head of our medical response team and she is an ordained minister (she is ordained through Joy Church) and ministers on a regular basis here and in different states around the country. I remember when they first arrived at Joy Church and loved it.  They had come from a great church in Virginia and had moved to the Nashville area in conjunction with his career.  They were in the area...

The first of each month we will be sharing First Tuesday's Teaching Tips. These are teaching nuggets from over thirty years in ministry. This month's topic is my new book "Enduring Life Or Enjoying Life, How to never be down, discouraged, or depressed another day in your life!" Put the Word of God in you when you don't need it so that it comes out when you do! Joy is the muscle of God designed to do life's heavy lifting. Circumstances come and circumstances go.  Circumstances are up and circumstances are down.  But the Lord never changes! Most people don't lead their lives...
