Over the last number of months, we shared with you our key scripture from I Thessalonians 5:16, “Rejoice evermore.”  In this short but powerful verse, we discovered the Greek word translated “evermore” literally means “from this point on”.  In everyday language, it means “from here”.  Then we began to share with you “13 Facets to Live a Constructive Life”: Part from Pity (Phil. 2:14). Never let your tragedy become your identity (Mark 5:26). You can’t unscramble eggs (Eph. 5:16). What we know is always more important than how we feel (Eph. 6:13-14). Never let go of what you do know because of what you don’t...

As many of you know, I am a shark fisherman and last May I took my fishing boat down to South Carolina to fish for big shark from my boat.  I had done this the summer before and I discovered my reel did not hold enough line to bring in the really big sharks.  You know it never occurred to me that “it wasn’t God’s will for me to catch big shark!”  So I simply decided to buy a huge reel that would hold 1500 yards of line so that even Jaws couldn’t get off!  So when my smaller reel...

Remember our key Scripture:  I Thessalonians 5:15, “Rejoice evermore.”  It’s a short but powerful verse.  We discovered that the Greek word for “evermore” meant ‘from this time on’ and in everyday language, “from here”.    We have been learning  “13 Facets to live a Constructive Life”: Part from Pity (Phil. 2:14). Never let your tragedy become your identity (Mark 5:26). You can’t unscramble eggs (Eph. 5:16). What we know is always more important than how we feel (Eph. 6:13-14). Never let go of what you do know because of what you don’t know (Matt. 11:5-6). This week we continue with this same facet...

Most people don’t live their lives “from here” they live their lives “from there”.  In other words, they are stuck in the past!   Before I received Jesus into my heart, I had a very rough past.  I had one particular roommate who was also quite the “wild child”.  We both had very short tempers and would do things that could have gotten us into a lot of trouble!  After I was born again, I shared the Gospel many times with my old roommate and he just wasn’t interested.  All he ever wanted to talk about was the crazy things...

There is a man in our church in his thirties who had a pretty rough past.  Recently he shared a very unique story with me.  During this man’s time before he met Jesus he acquired many tattoos.  Now, please don’t mistake me, our Heavenly Father cares about your heart not your tattoos.  However, now that he had given his life to Jesus these tattoos were not representative of the life he was now living for Christ.  One tattoo was a naked woman and he had many other morbid skull tattoos strategically placed about his body.   Well, he couldn’t go back...

Over the past few weeks we have been in a series called "From Here" (How to turn your setback into a comeback).   The Bible tells us a very simple but profound truth, “Rejoice evermore” (I Thes. 5:16).  The Greek word “evermore” means “from this point on”.  In every day language, this powerful verse tells us to live our lives from here!  I have decided a long time ago I’m not going to get bitter…I’m going to get better.  This negative situation is not going to be a tombstone, but a stepping stone.  I’m going to turn this setback into a...
