Over the last number of weeks we have given you our key verse from II Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”  Then we began to teach “10 Truths Toward Tenacity”: Tenacious people don’t’ waste time feeling sorry for themselves (Rom. 8:31). Tenacious people don’t hand the reigns of their emotional well-being to another (Phil. 4:4) Tenacious people embrace change (Ps. 55:19) Tenacious people don’t waste energy on things they can’t control (Phil. 2:14).  Tenacious people are not people pleasers (Prov. 29:25). Tenacious people are courageous (Joshua 1:6-9). Tenacious people let go of the...

The road to growth always travels through the city of change. God-given change will...

Have you ever been in a relationship with a “taker”?  I have and it is exhausting!  It is impossible to sustain a long-term relationship with a “taker”.  Please don’t mistake me, I am not saying we shouldn’t be there for a friend going through a season of trouble.  The Bible tells us, “A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.  A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend” (Prov. 17:17-18). You can clearly see from these verses that we are “born for adversity”.  In other words, a true...

There is a professional boxer who goes to Joy Church.  He is even more competitive than I am!  A while back, we got into a pushup contest and how many pushups we could do throughout the day (it had to be intermittent as we are both kind of busy!).  I started with approximately 2500.  He then went to approximately 2800.  Not wanting to be defeated, I went to 3000.  He then went to 3100!  Your friendly neighborhood pastor went to 3200.  He then did me one better and went to 3300!  Well, when I did 3200 pushups in one day,...

If you are a parent and have children or teens at Joy Church, then come on out bring your whole family to join us for a fun time with the children’s ministry teams and the youth ministry teams at another fun cookout! This one will be held at Charlie Daniels Park on Sunday August 23rd from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Weather permitting, there will be volleyball, and other fun games…as...

Joy Church is continually reaching out to the police in our community.  There are presently about 30-40 police officers and their families who are active parts of our church.  Unfortunately, one of our officers was recently shot in the line of duty.  He is a S.W.A.T. officer and a wonderful man of God.  He just gave his video testimony at Joy Church (you can see it by checking out Joychurch.net). He recounted miracle after miracle in which the devil meant to kill him, but God intervened and turned his situation around!  The bullet missed a main artery by a half of...
